First of all I want to say “Happy International peace day and Happy United World College day” to all. On behalf of the UWC students all over the world, we wish you Happy Bijaya Dashami to all Nepalese. I hope the local level elections are going well and I hope that this election will bring people responsible and honest leader. The political stability of Nepal has never been dependable enough to support the people and bring peace to the people. For instance, a member of Bibeksheel Sajha Party Bandhu Ghimire was publicly harassed because he dared to question a representative of the Congress party about how the workings of the Congress party. This is just one example of how political party reacts to the questions about their work in the society. To someone who dared to voice out his opinions and questions, his life was threatened. Think about other thousands of citizens who are uneducated and lives in rural areas of Nepal, when their voices will be heard? Even if they are heard, who can guarantee that their life will be safe? It is our human rights to voice out our thoughts and opinions about a matter.

There are many political parties, who have their own objectives and ideas, their own number of followers. The one common thing everyone has in mind is for there to be peace in the country as well as in the hearts of all Nepalese. But, it is the hunger for power and control that they want that they divert us from our primary objective and end up fighting with each other that is not for peace or development. So, I want to tell to the people of Nepal, those who are involved in politics or not, to help each other, bring peace to their surrounding first and then to the country. So, I, myself am a member of “Bibeksheel Sajha Party” but I don’t mean to insult or blame other political parties of Nepal. On the occasion of international peace day and United World College Day, I just want to say all the Nepalese political parties and people to unite together to improve the situation of Nepal by bringing peace in the country and in politics itself.

I am always frustrated by seeing the political situation of Nepal. There are many different political parties and leaders but we end up just having meetings, arguing multiple times about the same topic but we do not do anything in action. However, complaining and whining about the problems in a piece of paper is not going to help anyone. So, the better idea is to take action and stand by what we want, that is peace.

Through this letter, I just want to make all political parties and people of Nepal realize that if we want to change our country and its situation, we have to make use of everything we have, including natural resources, the enthusiasm of youth..etc. But the problem is in our country and those who actually can do something, but they do not have the courage to come forth with their opinions and those who do come forward are only lecturers who are in a higher position. Therefore, I simply want to remind that, if we give opportunity and chance to those people to voice out their thoughts, our country could progress so much further than we already have.

But, we can only do it if every child in the village areas are educated, the mentality about oppressing women is removed, discrimination between girls and boys is not done, children are not forced to beg for food or shelter, and have a good and capable leader to lead the people of Nepal on the right path to peace and development.

As someone living in a community with people from 60 different countries, we are celebrating Peace/UWC day and hope for peace and stability in Nepalese politics!!
